Would you like to know how to forever ban the following phrases from your business repertoire “opps…we dropped the ball” or “sorry, that just ummm, accidentally fell between the cracks”? Well thanks to one of the coolest automation tools ever invented, you can. And while you’re at it, you will also gain more of that sought after treasure “time’!
What is this invention…autoresponders! Autoresponders replace all those post it note, follow up files, and reminders on Outlook to “follow-up” with your prospect or customer. Done right, your autoresponder will mimic what you would write to each prospect and customer if you had all the time in the world helping to fend off problems and complaints and turn prospects into customers.
Wondering what you might use an autoresponder messages for? Here are a couple of ideas to get your thinking started:
-
Welcome users to a newsletter
-
Send coupons or special pricing notices
-
Acknowledge a request for information or technical support
-
Confirm a purchase (that’s especially fun)
-
Indicate that the item is in production or has been shipped
-
Provide helpful tips on features that might be difficult to understand or use
-
Follow-up to insure that your customer the service or product is meeting their expectation
-
Say Thank-You (one of my favorite)
-
Announce a new service or product offering
Ok…you can see the list of possibilities is endless and that’s what makes autoresponders such a powerful marketing and customer service tool!
Where can you get one of this things? An autoresponder might be included as part of your hosting package, and there are some free ones available. The old saying of “you get what you pay for rings true in this case” and that’s why I recommend that you use a paid service. The feature rich options available with services like Aweber easily offset the modest cost associated with it.
Aweber has an easy to use interface that let’s you compose your messages and set the timing for delivery. They also have a spam evaluation tool that either tells you…yep this is good, or back to the drawing board…you have too much of this or that and it will be viewed as spam.
It’s also easy to set up different lists and associated messages to target different customers or products or services. And the best part, once you have your messages set up…you will forever eliminate “Sorry it slipped thru the cracks”!
